CDF spotter Down...
Went down at Big Bear, Calif, operated on contract to the U.S. Forest Service crash landed in the streets of big bear june 20th... Pilot Bern Smith, escaped with only minor injuries... but, the plane was destroyed.. (ops guess this one isn't theirs)...by fire after landing and collision with a tree...
Smith told NTSB investigators that the plane lost power in both engines while on approch to Big Bear City Airport... just shortly ater 7.20pm...
The plane had been working the blue cut fire and had departed from San Bernadion airport prior to the crash...
