For those that are flying....... (posted on Peter's UNO board as well)

1) need to file an ICAO flight plan. Miami FSS handle these better than others. File with them if you do not use duats of Flightstar.

2) Will not give you direct above VRB or sometime MLB.

3) std routing is via BR62 to ZFP if coming from north.

4) fuel at Marsh Harbour or MYGB is 3.10 / US Gallon.

5) Okachobee has best fuel price. around 1.50.

6) life jackets avail at FPR VRB PBI.

7) remember tie down ropes!

8) If you have it bring a cable lock or prop lock.

9) need 1.5 hrs min fuel at MYAT for return to FPR using ZFP / BR62/L / ANGEE / dir FPR. (prefered routing).

10) can go direct on return to ANGEE but must be above 7k IFR.

11) if on vfr flight plan you can cancel with miami and flight following at 7k on way in to MYAT.

Hey Bob,

Your METAR wounds wonderful! Wish we could make it, but not this time... besides, from up here on the NW coast it's one of those 2,525.8 NM trips, planning IFR at FL190 and 13:52 without any wind at your back. Of course, coming by Skymaster would be the only way... I certainly don't envy GMAS getting poked and prodded by those security clows at the airlines!

Bob,

Forgot to inquire... what kind of 'security' is there at MYAT? Have there been any problems?

I am sure the winds would be favourable at 20k. I had to throw in the PIREP for current WX to make you feel bad.......

Security ? What security? No metal dectectors, no bag searches. No taking shoes off. Need one picture ID and one other piece of info. Thats it, nothing else.

Friendly little place...... When heading into FPR they may or may not look at your bags. Need one photo ID (drivers lic.) and one other.

In fact I have found GA customs to be very courteous, helpful and polite in both Bahamas and US... Much different at the border crossing when going by car or commercial airlines. There you are guilty until proven innocent........ Had the "big search" and lots of aggrevation going to LAS two weeks ago.
