Garmin GNS-430(w) and GNS-530(w) End-of-Life

Folks, In case you didn't see this elsewhere, Garmin has fired a shot across the bow giving us a head's up that GNS-430/530 support is waning.
(2023) Service Advisory 23018 Rev A: GNS 430(W)/530(W) Series Repair Service Changes

PRODUCTS AFFECTED:

All WAAS and Non-WAAS GNCŪ 420, GNS 430, GNS 530, GPS 400, and GPS 500 products are affected.

ISSUE:

Due to multiple component availability limitations, comprehensive repair service for the Garmin GNS 430(W)/530(W) series is expected to become limited in the years ahead. Initially, these limitations are estimated to impact a small percentage of repairs beginning in 2024.

First introduced in 1998, Garmin has offered repair service for the GNS 430/530 series for 25 years. Garmin plans to continue offering repair service when the components required for a specific repair remain available. Database updates and technical support will also remain available.

We encourage GNS 430(W)/530(W) series owners to begin considering their transition strategy to newer generation products. Please visit www.Garmin.com/AviationGPS to review upgrade options.

Yup. This has been coming.

First refusal to do waas upgrades on non waas units.

Then, couple years ago my 430 keys went out and they said they wouldn’t accept it for repair. So figured out how to fix it myself.

Well that sucks, I just bought my 530W 6months ago,... luckily it was sent out to Garmin for an overall overhaul and updated the firmware to the lastest rev before i bought it. Hopefully she will last me a few years.

They did the same thing with the GNS480 several years ago and cottage industry has sprung up to support it. I'm sure the same thing will happen here.

Yeah, not surprising. Both my 430Ws went through refurbishing in the last three years, and I think they will outlast me and/or the airframe.
