Gear won't retract.

I own a 1977 337G, and during this year's annual it was put on jacks and the gear was cycled. It retracted and came down normally one time. My mechanic asked me to pump the doors open so he could inspect, and after that the doors did not shut when the master was turned on and when the switch was put up the nose gear broke loose and the gear motor ran for a second and cut off. The mains remained locked. If I pump the gear up same thing when the gear switch is placed down, and if the doors are pumped shut they will open and the nose gear breaks loose and then the motor shuts off. Does anybody have any idea what this could be?

Could be low juice...either battery or hyd. fluid...or both.

The battery is new and the fluid is full. Any other ideas?

Also the gear horn is not working. Don't know if the two problems are related, but they started at the same time.

Hi sorry about that but at least it happened at annual. Count your blessings. This appears to be an electrical problem. If the pump ain't a pumpin the nothing is going to move. When you cycle the gear see if there is any current to the electromechanical pump. If there is and no joy then the pump itself may need overhaul. When was it done last? If it was a long time ago then that could be your culprit. Also check for continuity at all the microswitches in the gear door assembly. If no current to the pump check the breaker that you would have pulled to put the gear down manually. See if the current passes through it ok. Sounds like a challenge. Let me know what happens. I will monitor this thread a little more.

Thanks for the ideas. I will check those items tomorrow. It acts like it could be a switch, because as soon as the nose wheel unlocks the motor cuts off.
