Sparky Imeson Crash

As those of you who attended the fly-in at Las Vegas remember, Sparky Imeson is the author of the "Mountain Flying Bible". He was a guest speaker at Las Vegas.
While instructing a pilot, Sparky and the aircraft owner crashed in the wilderness.

No need to quote something that has been deleted.

I would like to add a few thoughts here. First of all Sparky is one of the greatest pilots around. I don't say that lightly, because before he is a pilot he is a gentleman. A very respectful person in the arena of aviation. It is always a sad day when those whom we know have these issues. I think we have to understand his passion. I flew the mountains and canyons for 20 years. It's some of the greatest flying I can remember and I will do it again. Is there risk? Yes, but there is risk every time we push the throttle forward. Are we going to live with fear? I'm not. My decisions will be mine to live with. Not someone else’s opinion of the type of flying we do or where we do it. Please be respectful of those in aviation especially if we don’t know the full story. I think the presentation that Sparky gave in Vegas was educational, interesting, challenging and entertaining. I’m sorry that so many missed such a great experience.

Just remember, the words we lay down here can hurt and discourage readers. Let's keep that in mind when we make comments.

Sparky is my mentor! We can all learn from his experience.

Well Said!

I hope it never is, but it could be me. All of us make mistakes. Thankfully, fate usually isn't out to get us.
