Please your experienced advice (engines OH)

I'm new in the Skymaster comunity. Some fellows (old an recent)written advices, have been very useful to me. (thanks for that). I have to send my two engines to OH. I have choosen Victor Av. I want to know the experiences you have had with that shop. Thanks in advance.

Just a thought that you might want to read Mike Bush's articles and advice at AvWeb. He has written (sensibly in my mind) about the need for engine O/H and general maintenance.

Good luck - Dave

What a great suggestion from Dave. Bush's article on engine overhauls is a must-read. I initially had trouble finding it, had to subscribe to AvWeb (for free) to get it, but it was well worth it. Here's the link:

Article & OH

Bush's article is tops! I agree with Ernie. This should be mandatory reading for anyone thinking about OH's. I I am still running one of my enginers over 1200 past TBO. It is a turbo charged engine TSIO-360-CB. I have replaced a couple of cylinders and two turbos. Only failure I had with that engine was a broken stud that holds the rocker arm in place and that was in one of the new cylinders with about 200 hours time on it. BTW, that happened returning back from our May Bahama Skymaster meeting over Georga. Landed at Athens and after a good fix with one of the local FBO's on a Sunday, I was back in the air in three hours. Herb and Larry was with me.

I agree, that article about overhaul is awesome!!! I was even thinking about overhauling my engines that are just 150hrs over. But now I will continue with oil analysis and compressiong checks, along with borescope.
