Winterization baffles?

My front engine is running too cold. Does anyone have a line on the winter baffles for the front cowl?

I've reached out to Don, waiting to hear back from him.

Thanks,

John

When I did my complete makeover back in 2009 I found a set for the front engine and fitted them for my cowling before I painted. After trying them the first year in cold temps there was no difference recognized in temps. Oil temps, cylinders all remained the same with or without the baffles. I have never tried them again. It was some significant modifications to the cowling too. I now have plates designed for my oil coolers to restrict the cold air and allow the oil to reach temperature. I never did find any baffles for the rear engines even though they are listed in the parts catalog.

Hey John, I have a set of front cowl baffles for sale 😃

I took a look at the IPC's this morning and Cessna completely redesigned the winterization baffles from your aircraft to mine.

Here's the early baffles: https://imgur.com/hdyUdEq

Here's the later baffles: https://imgur.com/VWWIJgR

Here's the rear that Don has for me: https://imgur.com/m3U7NPq

I think that rear will make a *substantial* difference in my operating temps. I'll be very curious to try it out.

I wonder if perhaps you have the later model ones and that's why they didn't work/didn't fit your cowl?

I have the earlier model front cowl baffles as shown on the first link you listed. I just wonder what the newer style would have changed. I know the design of the cowl inlet on the G models is different than early like mine so that is one reason there is a difference. The rear baffle that Don has for your G model cowl is definitely blocking a lot more air than the original early model. You are in some cold temps up there so it can't hurt to have these. You may still need to cover some oil cooler too but you will know when you try them.
