fuel onboard

hi all, i must look at things wrong. i thought the only time you had to much fuel onboard is if you were on fire. my tanks are always full when i take off. i think the plane flys better when its heavy. when i am by myself it seems like the plane just floats forever. the trip is a lot more fun with friends along, and the plane just flys better (to me).

thanks
rick

Full Fuel = Over Gross = No Insurance/Not Legal/Dangerous

1967 337B Long Range Tanks

Empty Weight 2900Lbs Approx
Gross Weight 4300lbs
Usefull Load 1400Lbs

128 Gallons Fuel 768Lbs

632lbs Usefull load remaining

Carry as much fuel as you can without going over gross.

I agree with Frank. Lots of time my load doesn't let me fill the tanks. I like to have 2-hours fuel margin (principally because of all the flying above water), but I want to be certain to be under gross.
