Whats Differant

There is a new front cowl with intakes on side. Looks like fiberglass cowl and it looks longer with 3 blade prop. Is this a new Gas Turbine or Diesel up front. Dale Campbell

This is a Skyvette http://skyvette.com/. Replace IO-360s with Corvette engines. A work in progress, only one made.

Congrats pilot pat.
Worth watching the little video - I wonder if my Skymaster sounds as good as that flying over.

Want one

Would like to convert mine to the corvette engines when it comes time for overhaul. Works great on Seabee!

I hope this actually becomes an STC. It will give Continental competition it never had before. A $10k Corvette engine vs. $40k Continental engine. They will either lower prices or end the business for that model.

The builder David Taylor may be one of the view out there with enough resources to be able to do that, assuming there is enough interest.

I emailed David Taylor and gave him a link to this thread. It would be nice to hear from him about his project.

Corvette engines

Jim,
Thanks for sending Dave an email on this - it would be great to find out how it is working. I doubt we will ever see this as an STC, and I think this is a little easier to do in Canada under the Experimental Catagory.

All the research I have done (which is very little) on this engine in the Republic Seabee, has converted the way I look at engine options. I especially like the idea of ease of parts (any GM dealership or O'Reillys) and the ease of having accessories like air conditioning.
