Cessna AP servos

Good morning!

I'm wondering if it is possible to use the servos from the Nav-O-Matic autopilot with an Stec AP installation, or does the Stec require all new servos?

We opened up my airplane for annual, and though the autopilot itself was removed a long time ago, the servos are all still there and appear to be all connected.

I'd love to get the AP going again - it would be a huge bonus if I could use the servos that are already in there.

New servos will be required. The STC requires the system be installed complete, not piece-meal. You could try to make it work on a 337 field approval, but I bet it would be hard.

STEC, now Genesys Aerosystems is located an hour away from me.

You could also contact one of the firms that specializes in working on old Cessna autopilots. They may be able to sell and install a used/overhauled Navomatic 400 head for it, you would have to check.

Thanks mshac. Not the news I was hoping for, but understandable.

Being fairly new to the Cessna game, do you happen to have the names of these shops I might contact?

Start with Autopilots Central: https://www.autopilotcentral.com/

Check your logbooks for exactly which autopilot was originally installed, with complete model number. Knowing that, the shops will much better be able to answer your questions.

Navomatic 400 computer(s) head(s) and servo(s) available

The various parts come up on ebay.

Probably removed because they were not working,

But
you COULD get a 'computer' et al,
and then send servos, computer and control head
to autopilots central (or other) for OH/Repair?

That's what I did. Almost $5k, but fully functioning now.

If interested, I may have some spares left from my ebay foraging...
Or check ebay and see what's available>
