Thanks Herb, that would have saved me a LOT of bother! I like the idea of emailing the load sheet once you're done.

It's only $5.99

Herb;
Quick question. Does it let you save flight data? And if so, is there any way to print from it? Angel Flight requires a piece of paper to be faxed or mailed to them for each flight. Thanks.

Downloaded this app and yes, sure does let you email directly from an iPad.

After fooling around with this for a few days it really is a neat app. However, it is now $6.99...you got a good deal Herb!

Computerized weight and balance

Hello ALL.
I have a friend that customized an Excel spreadsheet for 4200 gross weight Skymaster!! We in the CAP use the Excel spreadsheet for all our airplane. It works great-best of all it's FREE!!
If any one needs a copy let me know. You have to have Excel though.

W&B on iPad

All you need is "Numbers" on your iPad. I have a customisable spreadsheet I can send anyone who wants it. You can email from your iPad or take a screen shot and email that to keep your minders informed.

I like this one for $4.99:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wnb-...408836204?mt=8

because it allows for some pre-set weights at certain stations. For example, I don't have to remember how much my rear seats weigh - I can just move the "rear seats" slider to the right when they're installed, and to the left when they're not. I also carry some odd but specific cargo occasionally and it lets me add or subtract it with a finger swipe, and I don't have to remember how much it weighs or its station.

I use it to send emails of W&B for PALS (similar to Angel Flight) preflight.

Weight and Balance Pro is really easy to use. It makes it so there is no excuse in knowing your W/B. Not sure if it is on Android or not but for the Apple products it's sweet.

One simple trick I use (which can be used on any app) is to make myself a permanent part of the solution. For instance, on W&B Pro (that's the one I linked to above) I can enter my weight & station and make it a "hidden" field that doesn't need to be updated each time. I just use the slider for the copilot's weight. After all, if I'm computing a W&B I know exactly who's in the front left seat.

Sure, I vary by 5-10 lbs seasonally but it's close enough. :)

Here is a screen shot of the spreadsheet I use. The neat thing here is it's all on one iPad screen plus it has a quick fuel calculation at the bottom as one is often juggling load vs distance / fuel. You can email this page or take a "snapshot" of the page for future reference. (Press 'home' button and on/off button simultaneously to take a snapshot on an iPad). This spreadsheet is in kg lit & knots for Australia. I have a version in lbs & gal only for USA.

Computerized weight and balance

Herb.
Thanks for the update. I contacted the Web site for B n W Pro. I unfortunately I don't own an I-Pod or I-Pad and asked them if they had a Windows version, they do not. They also said they didn't offer the Skymaster version.
Thanks any ways.

You can program any the data for a 337 (or any aircraft) yourself. it's not hard and only needs to be done once. If you do get an iPad or iPhone, don't let the lack of a 337-specific template worry you.

hharney 11-27-12 09:31 PM

Bill
They only offer some common templates, like 172, PA 28, so as I posted photo 4 and 5 show the work page to make the Skymaster template. It's not a problem, any aircraft can be used.
