Pitot Heater

1 Attachment(s)
Attached is a photo of the pitot heater thermostat that was attached to the pitot (pn: 1500118-4) of my 1978 T337H. It no longer works and one of the ears for the power connection has broken off. Cessna lists only the combination pitot, thermostat and heater assembly. Does any one know where to source the thermostat unit only. It has the name stemco on it . A search for the stemco company has uncovered that they are out of business.

It is 5/8 inches in diameter. The aircraft has a 28 volt system.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ed,

You are looking at the thermostat, not the heater. These get damaged because of routine carelessness by the shops in a hurry to remove the fairing... those who are running against the clock with no concern to the quality of work they perform. This kind of poor quality of work is also identified by the cracks that usually appear at the trailing edge of the strut cuff to fuselage, when shops sometimes leave the bottom screw out closest to the fuselage -- I guess because they don't have a 'shorty' screwdriver handy -- anyway, that sets up vibration and then the crack occurs.

Anyway, here's a picture of the heater from someone else's P337, I believe it to be a 1973 model.

Just for those who've never seen the strut with the fairing removed, exposing the heater and cable guides, here's a good shot.
