ArkLaTex Skymaster for TV

Just wanted to do a quick check to see if anyone here has a *good-looking* Skymaster in the Shreveport or ArkLaTex area, and would want to put it on television.

We will be shooting video next week (March 7-12) in Shreveport for the new series, "Wings To Adventure." You can see a little info on the show at www.wingstoadventure.com, where we put the initial info. The web site will be upgraded shortly, but you can see a bit of video we have shot.

Each show will have several segments, including airplane profiles.

It would take a half-day (at least) of your time for us to shoot the interview (info on your plane), static shots of the plane, and aerial video (air-to-air). We are shooting in High Definition, and airplanes really look good in HD!

Thanks.

Just to let the group know . . . our crew will be arriving in Shreveport this afternooon (Sunday), and we will be shooting all week. I'm not sure about the interenet availability where we are staying, and we will be at the airport all day each day, but should someone want to have his or her Skymaster featured on national television, shoot me an email at tgresham AT outdoorchannel.com.

We already have shot on location in California, Washington, Oshkosh, Minnesota, Texas and Florida.

I cannot believe that 'somebody' has not taken Tom up on this....

I would, but my plane is in the shop right now, (and really needs some paint on the top of the wings...) Not sure that would look really good in HDTV! In addition, I just simply cannot get away at all this week due to previous work commitments....

Tom - I have another plane that belongs to a friend of mine who has cherished it for years - it would make a great segment for a future episode... It is a Taylorcraft that has won Grand Champion at OSH - It is a real beauty! The guy has owned it for many years, and it is in PERFECT CONDITION.....

Pat:

That's a stunning T-Craft!

I received your email. Thanks.

We shot for 6 days in Shreveport, and got a lot of good footage. I'm not sure where the next shoot will be. Probably southern California, then Wisconsin. Might make it to Virginia, but I'm still working on that one.

Lots of editing to do now. We have the first two shows done, and I'm happy about how they look. It'll get better as we go along, but the pilots who have seen the initial shows have all had good things to say.

Were you able to locate a Skymaster Candidate??

If not - consider Key West for our upcomming Fly-in - There will be quite a few there at that time!

Looking forward to seeing your show soon!!

Pat:

No, we did not get a Skymaster for the Shreveport shoot.

Can't make it to Key West for the gathering. It doesn't fit with the way I'm shooting this.

Here's what I do, to hold down costs. We go to one location for a week, and gather a bunch of planes there. We shoot profiles on various airplanes, stories on people, visit fly-in destinations in the area, and locate other aviation stories we can do from that location.

Each half-hour show will contain 4 or 5 segments (airplane profile, destination, etc.).

In Shreveport, we shot 30 segments in 6 days, which is really a whirlwind pace. We bring in eight crew members from around the country, including our own formation pilot.

All this is just to explain why we can't travel to a location for one or two segments.

I'm working on a shoot in May, at Oshkosh. Might be able to fly a Skymaster in for that one.

One of you guys with a really nice Skymaster needs to step up! A Skymaster is a cool-looking airplane and Wings to Adventure really oughta do a profile on it. <g> It oughta look good in High Definition.

This is a very good show and somebody is going to look really cool in their Skymaster.

Now, don't you guys go and fight over the chance to become a TV star!

We will be in OSH from Monday-Saturday for sure. Come by the GAMI booth and we'll hook up.

Kevin:

I'll let you know. It'll be in May. We need to do several things at EAA.

By the way, EAA is shooting and editing this show for us. I figured I'd hire the folks who know how to shoot video of airplanes.

I'm looking at show number three this afternoon.

It's just too cool! <Big Grin>
