Rear cowl flap motor shaft

1967 337B Wanted output shaft for rear cowl flap motor. Motor works fine but shaft is broken.

Curious is this break occurred because of a metallurgical defect, such as perosity of the metal, or perhaps too much stress on the part from improper rigging?
