Examiner

I'm soon going to need a CLT multi rating for our new (to us) 337. Does anyone know of a designated CLT examiner in the Northern to Central California or Nevada areas?

Thanks

Just a suggestion that you ask your favourite DPE who can do multi engine ratings to call and get permission from his local FSDO to do the ride in your 337.

As I experienced and understand it, almost any DPE can get permission to do the ride in a CLT 337, subject to district approval.

Please check and let us know.

Do you have a MEL rating now? I would suggest that if you do not have your MEL I would highly encourage you to use a standard (side by side) twin engine aircraft to meet the requirements. This will allow you to log multi engine time while flying the Skymaster in the future. With the staight CLT rating only your time will not be considered MEL when you choose to fly a standard twin.

I can write this from experience, if you know what I mean.

Thanks … I appreciate the input.
If I were 20 years old and just starting my career, getting the MEL would be great advice. However, I’m 60 and have spent the last 42 years in cropdusters … and although I still love my work, the idea of flying a twin for fun is not my interest. The reason for the aircraft is to spray mosquitoes at night … so it’s going to have tank and it’s not going to be used for pleasure.

That’s why I’m just interested in getting the CLT in the aircraft as soon and as cheaply as possible.

Thanks
Tad

Ok, that makes sense. Best of luck on finding the right CFI.
