Only in a Skymaster!!!
In January of 2000, while downwind for landing with four passengers in Guatemala City, I discovered the gear wouldn't come down. I told the tower about my situation and we decided that I would fly to a holding area to work on the problem.
I worked on it for an hour and a half, while burning off fuel and giving opportunity for the big jets to land and takeoff. A pilot friend monitoring the tower frequency heard my demise and pulled out his movie camera and filmed my fly byes and my landing. I uploaded the movie to YouTube. Once in YouTube, search for: "Tricky No Wheels Landing Upgrade". I don't believe any other plane could do a gear up landing without destroying the props and engines. No pilot of a standard twin would consider shutting down one engine and feathering the prop. And I don't know any other twin that sports a Luggage Pod that would hold the plane up. The only damage was to the luggage pod. An Easy Fix! Lynn Justice |
Lynn told me there is a video.
Here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4HAMMJivZs This is cool too. Check out the Skymaster with 6 engines! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa6Ir...eature=related |

It was even more exciting when Lynn told the story in person at the 2004 Meeting and Fly-In held in Oklahoma City. A picture of the participants appears below. Good to hear from you, Lynn.
