Climb rate and how specifications are cited
I see that the later, N/A Skymasters (the II's) are rated at 940 fpm climb, vs much more on the F (or any earlier one). The empty weight is also considerably more, but I thought that specs were nearly always cited per full gross, which is the same for all of the above. Are they not per gross, or is there some reason that the later models are slow climbers, in spite of having the same gross numbers as the F?
Thanks, Gray. |
These later models were heavier airframes as they are the same as a pressurized model. That’s the main reason. My 68 model POH states performance at 4000 lbs and at gross weight. Marketing department 😃😃

Yeah, I noticed that, but the few POH manuals I've seen have always provided spec numbers for @gross performance. And since the F and the G have the same gross I was wondering why the climb number is so different.

The F is the classic version and the G is the new P model type Skymaster
