Broken Entry Step
A big guy broke my entry step on my 337D. I've welded it several time but it doesn't hold up. Does anyone know of a replacement step? Or another way to fix it?

Needs to be removed from inside the cabin and taken to an aerospace certified welder. They will have to completely prep by removing all paint and starting fresh by removal of all previous fix it jobs. I had this done and step has been fine for years.

Broken Entry Step
GAdams. Had the same problem. Removed the step took it to a certified local (Non-aviation) welder. He ground around the break, TIG or MIG welded the break THEN HE FITTED/WELDED A DOUBLER AROUND THE WHOLE BREAK. I re-attached the step with heavier rivets and it's works/looks fine!

I just had it removed
After a large friend stepped on it, and it broke (did I mention he was large?),
and repeatedly hitting my shins on it, I just had it removed during an annual. I'd swear I picked up 2-3 knots without having the step hanging out there. Maybe that's why steps retract in other aircraft? 310's? |
