They use a lot less power than ordinary lamps too, and don't get hot (I think that's part of the long life secret of these lights). They also do not have a coil inside.
When I line up for departure, I can pretty much light up as far as 200 yards or more of the runway. Last year the dudes in the tower told me I had to buy them Raybans to put on when they see me coming! In my previous post I said how they had visual of me 11 miles inbound - that was in DAYTIME!!
