Basket-case 337's?

Hello all.

First time poster but long-time fan of the Cessna 336/7.

My situation is this: my brother is a A&P/IA who's short on cash (just bought a house) but would love own a plane. He and I would own the plane together.

Does anyone know of any out-of-annual or (better) damaged 337's that would require work to get airworthy? Ideally, we'd like to spend around 20-40K for a damaged airplane that we could work on together.

John, pick up a current Trade-A-Plane and you might see one thats close to one of the guys who can do a pre look. Occasionly an auction on one also shows up on TAP, Re: 3rd Sept. issue page 117. Guy, old72driver....

Surprisingly, this is the only ad for a Skymaster. Typically there are over a dozen. Are there none on the market, or have people quit using Trade-a-Plane?

There are 32 ads for Skymasters on Trade-a-Plane's website. I think you clicked on "Cessna 336/337 Skymaster - Other" (where this basket case is listed).

If you click on this just above that one titled: "Cessna 336/337 Skymaster," you'll see the 32 ads.

I've been checking Trade-A-Plane frequently; and have gotten some pictures of 337's in our price range. I think it might be smarter to go ahead and spend the extra money to get a plane that's at-least in ferry-able condition.

As you can guess, 10-20K will get you a 337 that's sat, with it's wings off, in a corn field for 10 years.
