Fuel Tank Installation/Anti-Chafe
All,
We are going through my fuel tanks on my restoration and found the bays in poor shape (dirty, mismatched chafe tape mostly falling off, etc). It is all clean and pretty now but for re-installation I'm interested in how the hold down straps are managed. Does anyone with a 73 or later model have pictures of their fuel tank bays that shows how/if the anti-chafe tape is applied to the tanks/straps? Thanks, J |

Hi J
I will attach a couple of photos for you, first will be of the wing internal just after tank removal. You can see the chaffing strip glued to the straps and bottom of the wing. The second photo is post refitting fuel tanks, again you will see the straps with new chaffing strip glued to it. Whilst doing the ground up resto of my 74G we replaced all chaffing material with new, replaced all hoses and fittings for the fuel tanks, importantly I replaced the 3M chaffing material that is attached to the underside of the wing sections which cover the fuel tanks. Hope this helps. Dave
