WOW They fit !!
Well it's been a long time since I posted anything here. We've been busy shoving Continental 550's in a Skymaster. Sorry but I can't tell you where or how.

THAT IS AWESOME!!!! I love to hear of some outward rebellion. Congrats! Bet that was a long project. Let us know some of the details of the journey. Give us some inspiration! Wow.. Those are really big engines.
Biggest thing I'm curious about is engine mounts. |

It didn't take that long really. We knew where we had to get to and we knew where we were starting , we just worked out the details in the middle. Oh by the way three bladed Hartzell props too !! ZOOM ZOOM

2000 feet per minute climb 160 knots with the gear DOWN !! 120 on front engine with rear engine throttled back and no noticable loss of power. We need bigger BRAKES though !!

Way cool. That is just fantastic. I am assuming it was not a pressurized skymaster. What year was it?

I believe it is a 78 and it's not pressurized. Right now the next issue is the air conditioner system. We are also adding 30 inches of wing tip on each side to help with the wing loading. We also elimanated the cowl doors. The front and rear mounts were redesigned by us and fabricated in-house. It's really cool.

I've always been interested in how you would change the front since it's integrated into the frame. Can you give me an idea of how that works?
I plan on changing my engines with something else when I wear these new ones out. So I'm interested in the mounting system. The engines I've been interested in are the Motovia engines. http://www.moraviation.com/ 250 Hp with supercharger, runs on a wide range of fuels. or The deltahawk diesels. I've got several years to plan this out, so no rush. Any modifications to the cowling? Weight gain? Props? Fitting of the alt, vaccum pump? Turbo? |

I can't give out much more info at this time. We had the same concerns as you going into this, we just put out one fire at a time.

The project is in it's infancy right now, the boss doesn't want too much info out yet. I'll post what I can when I can. Thanks for the interest.
