Anyone have this installed?
How difficult to operate during flight? |

If there is only one mechanical cowl actuator, then I have one. It's a little stiff, but nothing of concern. Mind you, that's the front. With all of the extra distance and the 180 degree turn on the cable, I can image the rear would be a bit hard to actuate.

Oh ... and don't make fun--the panel is a work in progress.

Herb,
Owen has it listed on his site for $1495 I called him to buy it, he said web price is a mistake and to order i needed to wire him $2995 (my plane came with an aftermarket not signed off hybrid 172 motor, ap said he had to remove) I did and got the kit 2 months after i ordered it. Recently during my annual, Craig went to put the kit in, and the front control pull handle was missing. I called Owen and said we didnt get the front cable, he said he would send one for $995. I called Don to try and get the cable for a reasonable price but he said he probably didnt have and mech kit is bad idea because its too difficult to move it in flight. Thats the reason for my post anyway. http://www.cessnaskymaster.com/mech-...ol-system.html Last edited by Jhogan0101 : 04-01-20 at 03:30 PM. Reason: Update |

Cost for the front or rear conversion Kit (T-handle control cable, cable support brackets for each end, lever arm to attach to torque tube) $1495 exchange for your repairable cowl flap motor.

Thanks Herb,
I can understand that. Here is what he actually sent to me “To begin, the old price showing on the web site is several years old. I have contacted the web coordinator to update the web site. The current price for either a new PMA cow flap motor or mechanical cowl flap system kit is $2995.00 with up to $500 rebate for an economically rebuildable cowl flap motor. It is easier and better I believe to simply replace the motor and make sure that the microswitches are adjusted properly. Please advise which you want, the replacement new motor or the mechanical system. Also please advise the ship to address and if you have a shipping account number or if you want us to add the freight charge.”

Well i paid $2995, and only received the rear. Then i called Owen and he said that its not his fault i didnt get it and he would send the front one for ONLY $995. Im working with Don Nieser, he said he may have the cable i need for $150.
