Boot Maintenance

Just FYI, we recently did a complete boot refinish on N337R using the 3-part Goodrich system of AgeMaster, ShineMaster, and ICEX. Man, what a difference. Coming back into Michigan from Texas last week, decending through the usual schmoo, we were very happy to find that they worked WAY better than before.

PBS Boot Prep works pretty well too FWIW, shine lasts a long time too. How is that P337 working, I tried to buy it a while back, but the guy wasn't realistic yet as to its value... I was told it sold for less than I had offered, but I had already purchased my plane by then. I never actually made it out to Idaho to look at it, was it in good shape?? Just interested in your experience......nice looking P-Master

Just another thought, wipe the oil off the tail boot after every flight, keeps the swelling of the rubber to a minimum and helps the boot last longer.

Hi. Thanks for the oil wipe tip. Yes, we picked that P377 up in Idaho. It was in very good basic shape, but had some issues. Over the first year we put about 15% of our purchase cost into maintenance/repairs--turbo, exhaust, electrical issues. Part of the problem was having trouble on trips, then having mechanics who really didn't know the plane do work on it. Finally, we took it to Sammy B. in Georgia for its second annual. It has been working great, since.
