Question Where to go to repair 400A Autopilot?

I need a shop on the East Coast, hopefully in the Mid-Atlantic that specializes on the Cessna 400A Autopilot.

Thanks in advance.

Rick,

Its not on the east coast but I take my planes to Autopilots Central in Tulsa, OK. Its a round trip airline ticket and two flying days but you only have to do it once. They do good work. Its not cheap. But neither is taking your plane back to the shop several times cause they didn't do it right the first time.

Rick:

Good place somewhere in Florida, but I forget where it is (I think Tampa). Howewver, Tulsa may be closer to you. Also, I'm told that the overwhelming number of problems with the Cessna autopilots are due to old/leaking capacitors, so changing these may be worth a try.

BTW, lived in the DC area for 20 years, including Gaithersburg.

400A

If you are a member of Cessna Pilots Assn, they will reccomend a place for you to go. I think there is a good shop at Lunken in CIN.

400a Autopilot

I am looking for a good place to get my 400a autopilot also repaired, some where near Penna. The last time I had a problem I sent all my parts to Auto Pilot Central. I was told it was repaired. Each time my avionics shop put it back in, it still did not work. They sent it back a total of 6 times, taking 6 months total. Each time they charged me again. When they finally got it going, it cost me over $8000.00. Had I known that in the beginning I would have purchased a S-Tec. Now it is failing again. I need a closer and cheaper shop. Dale

I don't think Auto Pilots Central will work on Cessna ARC units anymore. At lease when I talked to them about a year ago they told me they do not work on them anymore. My suggestion would be to call Muncie Aviation in Muncie, IN or Maday Avionics in Grand Rapids, MI. There are no guarantees but at least these shops have experience with the units.

Cheers

I hoping to be there but stuff happens. Sounds like it was a great success and I am looking forward to future gatherings.
