336 rear prop change?
Hello,
Have any of you out there flying a 336, upgraded your original rear prop McCauley D2AF34C61 to a McCauley D2AF34C302? The D2AF34C61 props were on both the 336s and 337s for rear props. The D2AF34C302 were on the the early 337s. The D2AF34C302 props are a better prop and eliminate an AD, and are more plentiful and prop shops are still willing to overhaul them. My question to you all, is have any of you made the change, and what was your approval route to get a field approval and the info that you used to document the swap in the field approval. Hopefully somebody has done this before, so I don't have to re-invent the wheel again. Thanks Steve |

Sorry Steve, can't answer your question but in case it's useful; 1979 337H rear propeller is a McCauley D2AF34C307/L78CBA-2

Steve,
I just went through virtually identical process with the front prop on my 336. Only 140 SMOH, but sat a while and could not be OH'd. My IA felt AC 23-27 provided authority to change the prop and the local FSDO agreed with him. The -C61, -C302, and -C307 are are all on the C337 TCDS A6CE and all these props share the same prop TCDS P5EA. YMMV. David

Dave,
Thanks for the info! You confirmed the direction I want to go with this in regards to how the props are type certificated, and the similarities between the installations. Could you PM me when you are able?? Thanks Steve. |

All the props certified for a 337 are in the AC6E
You will find it in this thread http://www.337skymaster.com/messages...ead.php?t=3980
