Gear Leg Down Lock Wear Plate
Hi all, we are doing the annual inspection on N301AL and noticed an unintended wear area on the wear plate that is mounted to the forward edge of the LH gear leg. The wear plate seems to have a small gap between it and the gear leg, like it doesn't fit on the gear leg properly. That seems to be causing the wear plate to rub against a bracket of the down lock. I (hopefully) attached a close-up photo of the plate. We could not find any info on the wear plate in the Cessna manuals. Does anyone have any insight on this part? Like part number and how it is attached? I don't see any mounting hardware for it, looks like it might be bonded with epoxy or something.

Sorry, picture didn’t make it. See if you can get a picture uploaded so can tell what you talking about better.

OK, looks like I got it to upload this time. The photo is a close-up of the wear plate. It is attached to the leading edge of the gear leg and contacts the down lock.

We just saw a very similar thing on my left spring gear. We removed the downlock mechanism, filed all the edges of the downlock pin housing, reinstalled and re-rigged the over centers of the pins, and that seemed to fix it up.
