Front and Rear Prop Spinners

Hi

I have a need to replace both front and rear prop spinners for my 337G, I have sent Don Nieser a note at Commodore but I thought I would ask the forum incase a member has either unit or both in good condition they no longer have a need for.

Mine were damaged beyond servicability during polishing, but we won't go there as it's still a very sore point.

Current plans are to be in the USA early June.

I think Owen Bell has carbon fiber units. Other carbon fiber pieces I have bought from him to replace metal have worked very well.

Really appreciate the information, I will keep the option for carbon fibre units in mind. I am wanting to keep it original with metal spinners, polished.

This time I will polish them myself instead of sending them out !

Can I ask the for some additional information / assistance from the forum. We will be replacing rudder, elevator and trim tab bearings whislt it is apart.

The following are the P/N

MS24461-4 x 4
MS24462-4 x 4
PNA3 x 1

The cost of the MS bearings are $105 to $110 each from Yingling or Prefferd, no stock on the trim bearing, have any of our members found other sources of supply for new bearings?

If these are my only option then that's fine, but worth asking the question first.

The MS in front of the part number means Military Standard. You can get MS stuff from a variety of suppliers. Do a Google search.
These folks can supply what you need.

Dave, my go-to source for this stuff, if Don Nieser doesn't have it, is Preferred AirParts. If you can find a new item from a surplus dealer, you can sometimes save up to 50%. Recently I updated the Purchasing Parts page of my "backup" site at www.SkymasterUS.com to add a new source: KRN Aviation Services -- 800-366-6462 (www.krn.com). I found their stock of new surplus parts rivals that of Preferred. Worth a call.

For everyones info and thanks to the direction provided by Larry, I have been able to source the bearings for the rear of my 337g. Whilst the rear is apart we will take the opportunity to replace them.

After numerous emails from RBC on whch distributor had them, Dixie Aerospace had them all in stock and I must say at a 3rd the total cost of Cessna.

4x MS24461-4 In stock under RBC pn 4NBC612ZP086B, $27.80EA (Cessna $110 ea)
4x MS24462-4 In stock under RBC pn 4NCC910P086B, $42.25ea (Cessna $105 ea)

I had a similar experience, many years ago. I was working for a bearing manufacturer in CT, in 1981. I had a Mercury outboard motor, and I determined it needed some bearings. Small bearings. I checked with the local Mercury dealer and learned that he would have to order them, and the costs were about $12.00 each. I remembered that one of our divisions sold to Mercury, in fact we had several outboard motor test cells. I did the interchange, and our selling price to Mercury was on the order of $0.80 each. A tremendous markup, to $12.00. Fortunately, I was able to get samples, so the cost to me was $0.00.

Hi Everyone

Just to let everyone know I am still looking for good front and rear spinners for my 337G, metal not composite.

I have been offered a few, unfortunately they have dints, excessive wear or have been repaired and will not be suitable to be polished.

I met Don Niesser last weekend whilst in the states, unfortunately he had no good units available. Don was very helpfull with a lot of good solid advice which I greatly apprecaited.

All I ask is that you keep me in mind if you know someone who may be parting out a 337 or might have removed theirs for composite units. I have done the rounds through a number of salvage yards and contacted those in the forum selling parts. Not in a hurry so time is on my side at present.
