AD78-09-05 Shop recommendation

Does anyone have a recommendation for getting the spar/web AD completed?
Still have about 500 hours before its due. Just curious, thinking ahead.
Thanks

Ask Kim Geyer

Kim operates several Skymasters (Had six running at one point I think) and has extensive experience complying with this AD. I'd send Kim a PM.

I have to give a shout-out to the P-Models - Usually all the non-P drivers smugly claim their maintenance (mx for airline types) is so much cheaper, but in this case its just the opposite. This AD does not apply to P-models until they hit 10000 airframe hours, unlike the 5000/3000 limits on non-P's.

When you drive a P, you better take what you can get!

Pressurized G models only require the Cap inspection but the H models, started with serial no. 293 to 313 are similar to G models but H models no.'s 314 and above do not require any inspection.

H models require inspection...

Herb, not sure if your sentence got cut off or if you are speaking in fragments...but I need to correct something reflected in your post.

The AD inspection has 2 parts; part A which is front and rear lower spar caps, and part B which is front spar web and web doubler. Each part has different applicability's depending on model and S/N.

Everyone needs to look at the AD to determine their aircraft applicability, to ensure no one on this forum misunderstands, but the H model does require an inspection per part B.

Again - reference the AD and don't take my word for it.

Jeff

It is confusing, but I think I understand what Herb is saying.

The AD covers two items: Spars CAPS and spar WEBS.

P-models are only affected by the spar CAP AD up to serial P3370138 - this would include all the P337G models.

The P337H models are exempt by serial number.

The spar WEB portion of the AD applies to all P-model UP TO P3370313. After that serial, they are exempt. So some P337H airframes are 100% exempt from this AD, while other are only affected only by the WEB inspection. Covered P-model S/Ns must have 10000 hours TTAF before the AD becomes effective, then re-inspect every 500 hours.

Is this clear as mud?

AD78-09-05 shop recommendation

So if I’m reading this correctly a 336 has 5000 hours until compliance with the AD?

Yes, unless regularly flown below 1500' AGL (think firefighting) then 3000 hrs.
