Prop Balance
Has anyone had experience with dynamic prop balance issues on the 337? I had my rear prop overhauled and they removed the dynamic balance weights that were on the spinner backplate. After that I had a vibration at 2300 RPM. Had the prop dynamically balanced which reduced the amplitude of the vibration and increased the RPM range in which it occurred. Prior to the prop overhaul there was no perceptible vibration at any RPM.

I dynamically balanced my MTs after OH in 2021 — got them down to .03 and .05 IPS at 2400 RPM in a couple runs. Any IPS below .05 is considered “Excellent” according to this AOPA article. What did your logbook entry show?

When first measured it was .35 ips. The lowest reading obtained was .11 ips and that is where we are now. Better, but not good enough.
And thanks for the link to the prop balancing article. Very informative. |

You could check with your shop and see if the prop can be mounted 180 degrees from where it’s at now. That will sometimes bring it back in tolerance
