A question for the forum:
The shop that performs my annual lost its A&P mechanic. The IA has offered to work with me for an Owner Assisted Annual. I think it would be great to learn more about my aircraft and keep my aircraft in my hanger. I am currently holding off until I do some more research on the process. I did have a concern if there is an issue that requires more extensive repair. For anyone who has done this and not an A&P, did you line up a mechanic to complete any major repairs. Once it is in pieces, I can't take it anywhere. Just wondering if someone in my position has done this before and how was the experience. I'm kind of anxious and excited to have the opportunity to do this. Thanks for any insight, Karl |

The IA doing the inspection should be able to accomplish any needed repairs or help arrange a ferry permit if it’s safe to fly. Don’t sweat it, it’s a good way to learn a lot about how the airplane works!

Thanks for the response. I'm going to go ahead and do the assisted annual. I did some research on what is required, but I wanted to get a personal experience perspective.
