![]() Hi there!
I am looking for a set of boots for our Skymaster Reims F337F. It has 2 Boots on each wing plus one one the stabilizer. Is there something somwhere to find? Buying new is a little bit too expensive (abt $10.000). Would rip off the boots instead. Reinhard |

The problem is exactly as you describe it.
In removing the old boots, you rip them off. They can't be reused, because of the removal. As a result, used boots don't exist. New boots do exist, they are expensive. There are methods used to refurbish, repair boots, that allow you to continue to use them. There also comes a time when that no longer works. There are weeping wing (TKS) de-ice systems used by other planes, and electric de-ice used by someone, but neither is availble for the skymaster. It would, in the United States, require an STC, which is an expensive process. |

Anyway, it seems to be an expensive issue to replace these boots.
I think, there should be some skymaster owner out there which should refurbish their boots but donŽt do it - like me because of the costs. What would be, if weŽll order all together lets say 10 sets of boots. I am quite shure, the price will go down drastically because most of the labor costs will be payed for the setup of the tools - not for making the boots. The question then is: how many sets of boots are required? Which kind are they (one pair each wing, or conventional)? Please write a message to this thread if you expect new boots for your skymaster. Thereafter we know the number and can go into contact with the manufacturer to negotiate. When a price is settled, each potential Skymasterowner can decide to do or not to do (that means, any post here is NOT an order!) Best regards Reinhard |
