TRIO Autopilot

I spoke with Jeff Odum @ https://www.thestcgroupllc.com/ and we may have some positive news with respect to an autopilot.

I told him our community is really screwed right now:

1. Stec 55x going out of production
2. Stec not even entertaining us on the 3100
3. Garmin has been giving us lip service on the 500 and 600 for years (and website not showing any real changes for almost a year and we are not even on the "upcoming" list yet).
4. Dynon staying quiet.

He told me that he has 8-10 months of work in front of him to clear out projects then he would be willing to talk to us.

I think this may be good option for a couple of reasons. It works with G5's (maybe GI275's not sure), Dynon and Aspen PFD/MFDs and it works with ALL the major GPS manufactures. Without anyone else jumping to help us, we need to be as agnostic as possible so that the overall community can benefit.

Lets all send him emails to let them know the need and interest.

Chris

Trio Autopilot

The more orders they have in hand the more likely it will get done.

Trio AP

If you get on the Trio website you can see the cost for the Autopilots that have been certified so far. The cost looks like it is going to be VERY attractive.

Spoke to jeff. Here is what they are completing:

Mooney
GI-275
Field Loadable Software
Piper PA-28 engineering change

He estimates around Christmas he will be free and will reach out. He seems to be very interested.

It seems the Trio news may have finally spurred Garmin into action, and bumped the 337 onto the short list. I guess it's going to be a race between Trio and Garmin.
