I have now referred to my copy of CSB 96-8. It was in 1978 TCM began the VAR process Crankshafts made under the VAR process are identified by the raised letters VAR forged into the crank.. The VAR forging identification is on the number 3, 7 or 9 crankshaft cheek. There is a list in the AD of all tcm rebuilt engines with certain serial numbers or higher if they were reman'd with the VAR crank. If you can't get the AD, let me know your serial number.
