As soon I get a good mold done, I will make them available for everyone.
Im not going to charge and arm or leg for these dome lights, my whole purpose was to make one for my plane, but If I can help out others, Ill be glad to do so. What would be a fare price? I was thinking $30-40?. It would be nice just to recoup my expenses of buying the equipment (vacuum & chamber for degassing) and materials. (maybe I should get a list going?) Attached is the first 3d test print to verify measurements, etc...then I will get a clean part done for casting. Its Progress! Last edited by ljmolina : 09-06-22 at 02:55 PM. |

I love to see this kind of ingenuity. I'll take one because, why not?

Progress Update
9/13/22 UPDATE:
So I test fitted the dome light before I start casting. The fitment was perfect. I have the silicone on hand, Im waiting for the UV resistant resin to come in. Keep in mind this is just a 3D test print using white PLA filament. I will experiment the castings to have the same translucent opaque offwhite as the original. Sorry for the missing panels...my plane is in the shop going through an avionics upgrade. |
