![]() Why is the rear prop shorter than the front? I would think with all the disturbed air on the rear prop you'd want it longer, not shorter. Is that the reason there seems to be a sight difference in MP between the 2 engines? Also, would love to hear from anyone who has installed the 3 blade composite props Owen Bell carries.

![]() Hi Nick,
N5222T looks like a very nice 'G' model... nice lines and panel from the pics I've seen before it left the cold country. As to the prop sizes, GMAs has covered this several times, and I asked him to repost the info, which he did... but it's up on the Cessna337Skymasters@Yahoogroups.com board. Just send an e-mail to that address to subscribe and you can get all the technical goodies as they come along. With all the great stuff here plus the tech board, it's a win-win deal! SkyKing |

![]() I always though the rear prop was shorter to give sufficient clearance between the booms.

![]() Ahhh, Jerry...
Go measure the distance between them there booms...! Nope, that ain't the reason. Peformance of the pusher, vibration & harmonics are some starting points. Remember, your talking about half-a prop beat. There's a website URL from a guy at CalTech posted up on the other one that gets into the nitty gritty. SkyKing |

Prop size difference
I did stump the "experts" at the AP Seminar with this question. There was another Skymaster owner there though, who said that cessna went to a longer prop in front at some point to try to improve front single engine performance. Anyone ever hear that? Why not go to a longer prop on the rear to improve performance of that engine?
