New to the Forum

Greetings All,
I'm a proud new Skymaster owner and new to the forum. I purchased her last November, and I finally brought my baby to southern Indiana on May 9th, after almost 6 months of trying to ferry her, and finally getting the annual done in Tennessee enroute (much longer story) from Tampa. I'm looking forward to meeting you folks at some point, and picking your brains for advice.
Fred

Welcome to the Skymaster forums! Congratulations on your purchase.

Please tell us about your airplane, and yourself. Year model?, avionics?, modifications?, got pics?

Hello,
I'm a C-130 guy for the most part (first active duty, now in the KYANG) and also UPS, but fell in love with the Skymaster after pilot training. My 337 is a D model from 1969, and apparently she spent most of her life down in Tampa. Just the basic stuff, with a lot of it being Terra radios. I'm basing it at Clark County (JVY) in southern Indiana, right across the river from Louisville. Here's a couple of pics.

Welcome to the site Fred. Very nice photos of the D model, air to air. Planning to attend OSHKOSH? It would be great to meet you and share some hanger talk. I am planning to fly the Cessna's 2 Oshkosh and they are looking for more Skymasters to join.

Uh Oh! Somebody who recognizes our callsign here! I'm afraid to ask why? (I swear we were at a legal altitude when we flew over your house).

I am not officially claiming anything, so I can keep my ticket... however I was "named" in a lawsuit in 1994 in Mombasa, Kenya by a British tourist who claimed his wife was terrified by a low pass by a C-130 over the beach which "showered her with fruit and flowers from the trees" and caused her to be unable to sleep or board an aircraft. The letter was addressed to "the commander of the American airforces" even though the culprit was actually a Belgian Herc. I actually witnessed from the top (4th) floor of the hotel, and was looking down on him as he climbed to clear the top of the building. I would have certainly been the first at the scene of the accident if he had misjudged his height.
As far as a motivational pass over the drop zone at Ft. Benning, GA, where the radar altimeter indicated 34 feet and the airspeed indicated 270 knots, I know nothing...

I also got to know the inside of C-119's there.
Motivational passes are good.

Maybe he was practicing for San Diego. My Aunt worked in an office building, and you could see the Electra's coming over Balboa Park, about even with her window, on their way into Lindberg.
