Aileron Actuator Push Pull Rod Rusted ends
Hello All,
Anyone experience rusted threads on the exposed ends of the aileron actuator rods - just before the nut and rod end bearing? Was wondering if anyone knows of a source to purchase the end threaded portion which gets riveted on to the actuating tube? Or if anyone has reasonably priced used actuating rods (entire assembly). I've got a 1975 337G. Thank you so much. Chris |

Hi Chris
Same issue with my bird, I chased them up from Don Nieser. Check with him he may have some more. The ones I recieved were surplus new / old stock. They were reasonably price and came with new originals ends as well. These alone are quite expensive from Mr Cessna. Dave PS: I meant to add I bought the entire rod |

Aileron push pull rods
Thanks Dave,
Mr. Cessna said that they could produce new threaded ends that can be riveted into the existing tubes. But I thought it would be easier and faster if I could find reasonably priced used parts. The rod ends with the bearings are easy to find new and are pretty inexpensive....the challenge is that the threaded rod is actually fabricated out of a solid chuck of metal and then machined into a specific shape so that one end slides into the tube and gets riveted in while the other end has threads on it. I appreciate your reply. Thanks, Chris |

Aileron rod assy actuating rod part number
Hello Herb,
Thank you for your help. The part number is 1462001-5 This is the part number for the entire assembly including the tube and rod ends. Thank you so much. Chris P.S. spoke with cessna and the threaded end is made from 4130 steel round bar stock with an original diameter of .437 This stock is then shaped so that half of the rod is smooth and slides into the actuating tube and the other half is threaded. Could have one made if need be because the rest of the assembly is perfect. |
