External Power-Reverse Polarity Contactor
At some point prior to my ownership of my G model, the External Power system’s Reverse Polarity system was removed and the External Power Contactor’s 28V cable was connected directly to the “In” terminal of the Battery Contactor.
The External Power system works fine, although there is obviously no Reverse Polarity protection now. Does anyone know why it might have been removed and rewired? Is there perhaps a service letter, or something else, giving direction to remove and rewire? Rick

I’m an E model, so don’t know if this applies to you. But my external power wiring and circuitry/contactor is in the space under the battery and next to the exhaust. In that location, the wiring has rotted pretty good from acidic gases and heat. I just capped it all off until I can do a proper repair. If yours is also in the space under the battery near exhaust, it may have been gutted and simplified due to acidic rot.
My sheet metal was taking a hit so I cleaned it up and painted with aircraft primer to protect. Worth taking a look down there. Examine carefully under and around your battery for corrosion. |

Thanks wslade2, I’ll get down there today and have a good look around.
