Garmin 295 Vs 196
WELL, IF I CAN BE SO LUCKY, I AM LISTING THE 196 ON MY CHRISTMAS LIST.
I WAS REVIEWING SOME PAST THREADS AND LOOKS LIKE SEVERAL OF YOU FELLOW USERS HAVE 295'S ANY PRO'S AND CON'S BETWEEN THE TWO? I KNOW THE BASICS http://www.garmin.com/products/comparison.jsp BUT HAVE NOT HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH EITHER. Last edited by hharney : 11-24-03 at 08:14 AM. |

295 fan
I have a 295 and love it for a couple of reasons.
The first is that it is dual use unit. It can be used on the ground and air. I use it for business getting to specific addresses without a problem. It will not give you turn left, turn right instructions, but it will find the address and draw a line from where you are to where you want to go. The last mile of directions I find with people giving instructions are the toughest. The second is that the 295 is color. I personally like color and that is a big thing to me. I dont think the 196 comes that way. Either unit is great and I have friends that have the 196 and love it. I take the 295 with me flying and use it as a backup to the Garmn 530. Rick N48AT |

Used a friend's 295 for over a year and finally bought my own 196. I prefer the 196. Color doesn't mean that much to me and I like the features in the 196, especially the extended centerline as well as the logbook. Of course, I only use it as backup for the twin 430s but it's fun to use, and I can also use it in the car.
