Oshkosh plans?
I am thinking of going to Oshkosh this year. I am actually thinking about driving (which shows you how much I hate the airlines these days). I might meet up with Scott Smith in Iowa and drive the rest of the way in with him. But finding a place to stay for the entire event will be a challenge. I would like to camp, but I'm not sure we can get a site. Is anyone planning to camp there for the week, that might be willing to let me share your site and share costs of the site?
Also, if you know someone who has a home with a room near there somewhere, or any other sort of arrangement, please let me know. Thanks, Kevin webmaster@337skymaster.com |

Kevin -
Don't dispair! The only shortage of camp spaces is on the OSH 'approved' grounds.... There is a family farm behind the red barn over by the ultralight area (about a 200' walk') that is unpublished, and ALWAYS for rent at about 1/3 the EAA's rates... We have been staying there for years.... I am planning to take a 40' motorhome again this year - but we usually get into the ultralight area because we know the people who run that area... I also have a bunch of friends who have been working there for years and have spaces reserved in the main grounds... If it was not for camping by friends - I would absolutely stay in the farm behind the red barn... it is WAY closer than even the EAA grounds... EAA has been trying to buy the farm for years unsuccessfully so they can keep people from staying there... If you look at the grounds map - it is right behind the ultralight area... |

Kevin,
The place Pat is talking about is owned by Ed Stabtmueller. The address is 3673 Waupun Road, his phone # is 920-235-5702. They don't take reservations but he will allow you to "stake out some ground" a week or so early. You can most always get in. If you e-mail me a reminder, and I go early, I would be happy to stake out some ground for you. I think I'm going to fly and tent camp under the wing this year in the north 40, you could always fly and camp under your wing!!! Fred |

Thanks Fred. Although I am the webmaster of this site, I am also airplaneless for the moment, and cash challenged. So that's why the alternate camping arrangements. If I could fly in, you bet I would. Thanks for the info!
