My airplane was well maintained but still, more dollars out:
- 2¼" Turn and bank quit. A new one is $2K! $550 for a yellow tagged, return to service, unit. I'm sending the outfit mine to rebuild ($295) for an on the shelf spare.
- SK337 40-C, fuel cap improvement $1400. My airplane has the original caps, their spent.
- Sandel SN3308 software update - $1700. The unit has never been updated so despite having dual Garmin 430Ws, GPS vertical guidance (RNAV arrivals and LPA approaches) is not available on the EHSI. The update is supposed to correct a couple of error messages that are constantly in view as well.
- 430W databases. Never updated since installation. I just bought one annual subscription ($495), but that created a problem of mismatched databases so "crossfill" between the units will not work. I had been using the second unit as a scratchpad to verify changes before sending them to the operating NAV.
- The avionics shop is going to install a Garmin FlightStream 210 and an Insight Strike Finder.
