prop wiggles

got a p337g with a front prop that "wiggles" when you move the blade tip forward and aft , anyone know if there's any allowable play in these? My mechanic is calling the prop guy about it, thought I'd see if this is common or not. recent overhaul on the prop and its not throwing any grease...

Prop "wiggle"

Eeubanks:

It is a common issue and allowable. The McCauley Propeller owners maintenance manual (I assume that you have a Mc Cauley prop) is available to you online. It list the allowable movement in the blade at the tip (forward and aft cordwise) as .125" at the tip of the blade.

I just went through this with my newly overhauled prop. I was on a trip recently and away from base when during the preflight I felt the prop move... I was not happy and called the prop shop. They explained it to me, and then fixed the prop with a very small shim. But as far as they were concerned, they were happy to just leave the prop as is.
