Alternate Engines

I've been reading about the many new power plants that are coming in the future. I'm sure like most products a few will finally catch on as the dominant engines for aircraft. I've especially been following the concept of diesel engines or engines using unleaded fuel. I can see in the United States the concept of being able to use Jet-A for the diesels and the unleaded to replace the current avgas. Many US airports have two fuel farms to distribute both. I am however wondering what the political and business climent is like for these fuels in other countries. If I fly outside the US, will there be an unleaded equivalent or do you think there will only be diesel or Jet-A in Europe for example.

My engines will probably have to be replace in several years, so I'm just pondering future options.
