What is the difference between my IO 360 C Continentals and IO 360 Ds?

I have a 1971 337F with IO-360Cs. What is the difference in the IO-360D engine and will the D model work?

The airplane is certified with certain model engine and therefore must remain that engine. I don't know exactly what the D designation refers to but call Continental and ask the experts. They make the engine they should know. Could be just a different component that makes it a D and with a change it might be made to a C. Call Continental
