Where IS This Place?!

I'm attaching a picture. Hopefully one of you knows where the darn place is! Trying like crazy to figure it out, but the picture should give some clues to those who've traveled in paradise more than I (that would be most people, I guess...)

Thumbs up Found It!

A guy at work located a picture of the airport in the photo I attached - it's the Maldives off the coast of India (about 400 miles from Sri Lanka).

The apt is in Male (not to be confused with the "stronger sex" but the capital which is spelled that way), Maldives.

No, I think the place is Male apt in the Maldives. It would be strange for the guy who put the pkg of pictures together to grab and airport from Tokyo and throw it in with all the pictures of the Maldives resort that this came from.

See the attached Powerpoint file....

When you guys refer to the "New Tokyo Airport" - which one do you mean - Narita or Haneda? Narita is inland so it doesn't look anything like that photo. Haneda is near the water, so that must be what you mean. I didn't realize it was new (I need to watch the Discovery channel more ).

I think Maldive is the right answer:
Click here to see Hulule International Airport in Maldive

I was thinking of Kansai which isn't actually Tokyo. I was misinformed at the time. Its Kyoto I believe. But in any event, now that I've seen the photos of the Maldives, I'd have to agree that appears to be the more likely spot..

I'd love to take the wife and go there for a week. It's the Hilton resort. The most expensive suite shown in the PPT stuff is about $US1000/week. They do have the "regular" suites (which still look mighty fine - you can see them on their website - just do a Yahoo search for "Hilton Maldives") which go for more like $300/day.

Oh well, maybe sometime after we see if/when war developes. The Maldives are a Muslim country, although I have no idea if there are any extremist attitudes there or pockets of crazies.

re maldives

Paul

Have a friend that was flying commerically out of the Maldives until November. He left due to lack of tourism but moreso the unrest. As you mentioned it is a Muslim country and he became very concerned.

hewilson,

Kansei Airport is certainly surrounded by water. It's in Osaka - about 50 miles from Kyoto.
