Plexiglass Protector Removal

Help! I bought some 1966 vintage windows to replace some badly scratched ones on the Skymaster. The protective cover doesn't seem to want to come off. I called the manufacturer and they said to soak it in kerosine for 30 minutes and try to remove it. They said it might not work... It didn't. I have soaked it for over 30 hours. It still doesn't.

Anyone have any other ideas that would not hurt the plexiglass?

Aircraft Spruce has a product called "Un-Mask". I have used it with some success but I really doubt that you will find anything that will help with something as old as you have.
Good luck,
Bob

DocBob...

Thanks for your response. I Think you are right. As old as the bond is, I don't think we'll ever get it separated.

Adhesive Remover

Try Fin-L-Wash. Made by Martin Senour Paints. It is a product you can pick up at automotive refinishers. It will remove any adhesive ever old stuff. You may have to soak a while if adhesive is old and brittle. It will not damage plexiglass, plastic or paint. I use it all the time to remove stickers, even baked on stickers from computers.
