Instruments

I talked last Fall with some folks from Xerion Avionics in Canadaigua, NY. They have a very nice 5" unit that will show EGT, CHT, RPM, MAP, Fuel Flow, AMPS, Bus Voltage, OAT, , TIT, Oil Temp and Pressure. in a very readable multi-colored display. I was more impressed with what they had than with just about any "new gadget" that I have seen.
As I recall they had delivered single engine units and were working on STC's for ME units including for the Skymaster. Projected cost was stated to be $5K.
I have no concrete info that tells me that they can ultimately deliver, but I'm putting off any panel work to go with my otherwise brand new interior until I'm sure that they can or can't.
(No. I'm not selling for them-I'm simply impressed with something this comprehensive that will fit my panel!)

What about the EI MVP-50?

seems to do everything, though you would need 2 of them, one for each engine.

Dear Sirs,
If I may suggest an economical solution to the problem of inaccurate tachs in our Skymasters.
Sporty's sell the Tru Tach Optical Tach for $189.95.
Simply Velcro onto the glare shield in full view of the front prop,
set the rear RPM's by the sound. Once you have set your required RPM in the cruise or other point, note the readings on the aircrafts installed tachs for future reference and of course for night flying. I had the Tru Tach comparred to the unit on a Chadwick prop balancing system (durring the prop balancing on the aircraft following overhaul) and it was spot on!
Perhaps not as cool as spending a lot of cash on a panel mount system, but just as good. Save the cash for fuel.
Regards
James

I've called EI on their nice display. As of yet it is not STC'd, but would be a fairly easy field approval. Also, two of them are a REALLY tight fit. They really take up alot of the Skymasters real estate if mounted in the prefered configuration of top / bottom. Side by side is a differant story.
