Starter Adaptor

RE: C337 C 1968
FOUND OUT TODAY THE FRONT STARTER ADAPTOR IS GOING BAD. THEY WANT $1100 FOR A RE-BUILT, IF, YOU HAVE A USABLE CORE ($2500). NEW FROM CONTINENTAL IS $4000.

ANYONE HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE LATLEY?

MINE IS STILL WORKING BUT HOW LONG?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

THANKS BOB
BUT MY PROBLEM IS I HAVE AN I0-360 "C" MODEL
THE C AND G MODELS TAKE THE SAME STARTER ADAPTOR THAT COST THE NUMBERS ABOVE. IF I HAD ANY OTHER NUMBER THE COST IS 1/3 OF THE ABOVE NUMBERS.

I TALKED WITH NIAGRA AND THEY WERE THE SAME PRICE.

Did you try Don Nieser at Commodore? His phone is 405-722-4079.

Cool Hey Idahodian...

What is it doing, is it starting to slip? Mine several years ago started to slip. We put in a new spring, not from Continental and it did not last to long. It started to move over another part of it. We then removed it again and turned the shaft and got an under sized spring from Continental and, so far its been ok. Guy. The old72driver....

SORRY OLD DRIVER I AM NOW A MICHIGANNER BUT STILL HAVE SOME ROOTS TO THE MOUNTAINS AND THE BACK COUNTRY OF IDAHO.

THE PROBLEM IS:
SOMETIMES THE STARTER WILL NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. I CAN HEAR A SLIGHT CLICK. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPS IT WILL ENGAGE. ONE TIME I MOVED THE PROP BY HAND AND IT WORKED.
???????????

starter

Herb, are you sure it is the adpt that is bad and not the starter? I had similar problem with my front engine and it turned out to be the starter. Call me tomorrow at the office and I'll get the name of the company I just used for a rebuilt starter for only $150.00
