cowl flap motor

My front cowl flap is stuck open. When I took a look, the top limit microswitch had a wire broken, and the bottom limit microswitch doesn't seem to work. I thought that would be an easy replacement. I have ordered the maintenance manuals but they haven't come yet. Can anybody give me the part number I need? Even better can anybody tell me the specs on the microswitch so that I don't need to order a Cessna certified part?

The p/n for the switch is S2224-1 and you will need the actuator S2225-1. You can get this microswitches just about anywhere there is nothing special about them. They are not expensive from Cessna.
However to set them up you will need a manual or mark the position of the switch you remove.

Regards
Pete

What is the actuator? It looks like the cowl flap motor has a plate on the end of the shaft which, when it rotates, depresses a microswitch by depressing its roller lever arm.

The actuator is that roller arm that actually pushes in the little button on the microswitch. It is a seperate item, and is not included with the switch itself. It is mounted with the same two little screws that hold on the microswitch.

Thank you. Since the "actuator" is actually part of the switch I am sure needs replacement (it is epoxied into it), I better order both. In fact I think I'll just replace both of the switches while I'm there. The other switch is as you describe, with a separate roller lever arm.

No the actuator is a separate part.
Alway handy to have a spare of those switches as the throttle microswitches are the same part number.
